101 Questions & Answers on the Eucharist |
|
By Fr. Giles Dimock, OP. |
|
Fr. Dimock, who has taught for 40 years, answers some of the most commonly
asked questions about the Eucharist which have been posed to him in his
preaching and teaching. He begins with questions on the Jewish background
of the Eucharist, and then examines the Last Supper, transubstantiation,
sacrifice, the Real Presence, intercommunion, and many other relevant
topics.
The questions range from the straightforward “Why is the Eucharist called
Holy Communion?” to “What is Forty Hours?” and the more involved, “What is
said about the Eucharist in the Code of Canon Law?” Fr. Dimock culls the
teaching of the Church on the Eucharist from conciliar and papal
documents. Will satisfy the spiritual as well as the theological curiosity
of college students, seminarians, and interested lay people.
Fr. Giles Dimock, OP, holds an STL in liturgy from Sant’Anselmo, Rome,
and an STD from the Angelicum, Rome. He has taught at the Angelicum, the
Josephinum, Franciscan University of Steubenville, and the Dominican House
of Studies in Washington, DC. He is the author of numerous articles and
books, and is a member of the Society of Catholic Liturgy and Fellowship
of Catholic Scholars. |

“David takes the beautiful teachings of our Church and the words of
Pope John Paul the Great and puts them in terms that all can understand.
This book beautifully weaves together God’s great design for life, love,
marriage and sex. I appreciated the fact that David always refers back to
Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as the basis for each
of his points.... A great resource which I can use with the campus
ministry program that my wife and I lead in our home town.” –Tony
Melendez, composer and musician
This book boldly and lovingly lays out God’s truth. Each short chapter
contains insight from God’s Word, wisdom from Pope John Paul II,
reflection questions for everyday life, and suggested reading from the

Baby Margaret Mary: My Journey to Birth |
|
|
|
A gentle, loving, beautiful booklet that shows the development of the
unborn child week by week through birth. Each page features a colorful
painting of the child’s development along with a letter from Baby Margaret
Mary, who shares all her joy and excitement at each stage of her growth. A
relevant Scripture quote is woven into each week’s letter. Great resource
for families and pregnancy aid centers!
I think you have a project that is very helpful to the pro-life
movement. Your booklet provides an excellent educational tool for use in
pro-life work. It is informative and warm and provides fetal development
information in a way that encourages respect for the life of the unborn
child. I think that it has a place in the work of crisis pregnancy
centers.
--Wanda Franz, Ph.D., National Right to Life Committee
Love letters are always very special, but to receive such a letter from
a preborn child, telling us how much God means to her, to us, and to the
world is truly something special. Baby Margaret Mary is fi lled with the
kind of good news and blessing that I know will one day bring America to
the point of rejecting every single act of abortion out of love for
children, born and preborn. I am honored to have been asked to read it.

In Vitro Fertilization - Why Not?
What the Churches about IVF
While more and more couples are marrying later in life, infertility, even
among younger couples, is on the rise. Many infertile couples seek out, or
are offered, in vitro fertilization. However, the physical, psychological,
and spiritual consequences of this procedure are largely unknown and lead to
heartbreaking situations and moral dilemmas. Unfortunately, many do not hear
any teaching about this issue from the pulpit.
You can help your friends avoid tragic situations by distributing this
useful, easy-to-read pamphlet which explains the risks of IVF along with the
Church’s urgent reasons for prohibiting it. Explains clearly why IVF is not
only a sin but also harmful to marriage, family and society. Also explores
moral procedures which are much safer and more effective than IVF. |

The Story of
Benedict XVI for Young People |
|
By Claire Jordan Mohan. |
|
Children need to know their new Pope not only as a great man of God but as
he was, a child and a teenager like themselves. Growing up in Germany was
for Joseph Ratzinger both a peaceful and a dangerous time. He had the
inner peace and stability of a devout Catholic family life, but all around
this family the evils of Nazism and World War II raged. The family lived
under this threat and had to struggle to remain Catholic in an
anti-Catholic state. In the midst of this, Joseph found his vocation and
suffered persecution because of his decision to become a Catholic priest.
Contains quotations from Benedict XVI, chronology, and glossary. |

Light of the Nations |
|
By Fr. Brian Mullady, OP. |
|
Scott Hahn says, “Fr. Mullady offers a readable and
rock-solidly reliable treatment of what is surely the most important – and
debated – subject in contemporary Catholic theology. His approach to the
doctrine of the Church (ecclesiology) demonstrates the profound
consistency and coherence of the Magisterium’s teaching, as it draws from
biblical and patristic sources and develops from the medieval to the
modern period, culminating in Vatican II’s Dogmatic Constitution on the
Church (Lumen Gentium). In the process, Fr. Mullady applies a ‘hermeneutic
of continuity’ to show the deep convergence of Vatican I and Vatican II
(no small feat!). Along the way, readers gain a renewed sense of the
indispensable role of classical Thomism for doing Catholic theology – with
precision, fidelity and flexibility.” |

Compendium to the
Catechism of the Catholic Church |
|
|
|
In the words of Pope Benedict XVI himself...
“...This Compendium, with its brevity, clarity and comprehensiveness, is
directed to every human being, who, in a world of distractions and
multifarious messages, desires to know the Way of Life, the Truth,
entrusted by God to His Son’s Church.
“The Compendium, which I now present to the Universal Church, is a
faithful and sure synthesis of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. It
contains, in concise form, all the essential and fundamental elements of
the Church’s faith, thus constituting, as my Predecessor had wished, a
kind of vademecum which allows believers and non-believers alike to
behold the entire panorama of the Catholic faith. In its structure,
contents and language, the Compendium faithfully reflects the
Catechism of the Catholic Church ....
“I entrust this Compendium above all to the entire Church and, in
particular, to every Christian, in order that it may awaken in the Church
of the third millennium renewed zeal for evangelization and education in
the faith, which ought to characterize every community in the Church and
every Christian believer, regardless of age or nationality.” A must-have
for every faithful Catholic! Concise summary of the Catechism of the
Catholic Church in 598 questions and answers. Contains 2
appendices: prayers every Catholic should know in Latin and English,
and formulas of Catholic doctrine. Illustrated in color. |
